E. Hanumantha Rao, belonged to a business family. He got interested in nature and nature photography during his association with the scouting movement. He contributed his wild life photographs to the most prestigious publications in the world, which included LIFE, Readers Digest, Encyclopedia Britannica, National Geographic, Random Book House, McGraw Hill and Time. His extensive coverage of wild life in almost all the sanctuaries in India and his very methodical and painstaking cataloguing of everything he photographed portrayed a man of great discipline. He was awarded the AFIAP distinction in 1960, Kodak Award for Photographic Excellence in 1986, Karnataka State Environment Award in 1993 and Hon.YPS in 1990.
Nature Photography needs dedication and deep involvement. It also needs love towards nature and for upcoming photographers
participation in exhibitions is a must, because it helps one to achieve quality.
E.H.Rao will always be remembered for his photographs which graced more than a thousand publications, for his support to Youth Photographic Society and for his dedicated service as member of State Wild Life Advisory Board.
